About Us

Tamil Nadu Sarvodaya Arogya Sangam is not just a healthcare manufacturing institution—it is a living continuation of a movement that believed health, dignity, and self-reliance belong to everyone.

Our story begins with Khadi, the beloved child of the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Born in 1920 as a symbol of freedom and self-sufficiency, Khadi found its early roots in Tamil Nadu in 1923 under the stewardship of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, led by E. V. Ramasamy. What started as a freedom movement slowly evolved into a people’s movement—one that placed villages, livelihoods, and well-being at its core.

In 1925, the Akhil Bharat Charkha Sangh was formed, later merging with the Akhil Bharat Sarva Seva Sangh after Independence. Embracing decentralization as a core philosophy, the movement expanded beyond textiles into multiple spheres of rural and social development. As part of this vision, the Tamil Nadu Sarvodaya Sangh was established in 1958 to oversee Khadi and Village Industries activities across the state, eventually decentralizing into district and block-level institutions.

From this lineage emerged the Tamil Nadu Sarvodaya Arogya Sangam—with a singular mission: to improve public health, spread health awareness, and provide accessible, health-promoting resources, especially at the grassroots level.

Today, we manufacture and market a wide range of nutraceuticals and other village industry products, reaching customers across India. Each product carries the same philosophy it was born from—ethical production, community empowerment, and wellness for all.

At our core lies the spirit of the Sarvodaya Movement—a socio-economic philosophy founded by Mahatma Gandhi and carried forward by visionaries like Vinoba Bhave and Jayaprakash Narayan. “Sarvodaya” means the welfare of all, and this principle continues to guide every step we take.

We are here to build health, sustain livelihoods, and honour a legacy that believes progress means no one is left behind.

Key Health Benefits of Sprouted Grains

Increased Nutrient Content:

Sprouting boosts levels of B vitamins, vitamin C, folate, iron, zinc, magnesium, protein, and antioxidants.

Improved Nutrient Absorption:

The process breaks down phytates, allowing your body to absorb more minerals and vitamins.

Easier Digestion:

Starch and protein are partially broken down, making it gentler on the digestive system, potentially benefiting those with sensitivities.

Better Blood Sugar Control:

Sprouted flour has a lower glycemic index, helping to prevent sharp spikes and crashes in blood sugar.

Rich in Antioxidants:

Sprouting increases antioxidant levels, which fight inflammation and cellular damage.

Supports Heart & Metabolic Health:

Higher fiber, antioxidants, and improved nutrient profiles contribute to better heart health and metabolic function.

Why It’s Better Than Regular Flour?

Bioavailability: More nutrients are available for your body to use.

Digestibility: Easier on the gut.

Nutrient Density: Higher in vitamins, minerals, and protein.

Key Health Benefits of Wood/Cold-Milled Flour

Maximum Nutrient Retention: Cold milling keeps the grain cool, preventing the degradation of heat-sensitive vitamins (like Vitamin E) and essential oils.
It retains the germ and bran, which are rich in B vitamins, iron, magnesium, and antioxidants.

Enhanced Digestibility:

Because cold-milled flour is often used immediately after grinding, it keeps the grain’s natural enzymes intact, which aids in digestion.
It is often better tolerated by those with sensitivities.

Lower Glycemic Index:

Whole grains milled this way break down slowly, leading to a more stable blood sugar level rather than sharp spikes, which is beneficial for diabetes management.

High Fiber Content:

Unlike refined flour that removes the bran, wood-milled flour maintains high fiber content, supporting better gut health and digestion.

No Additives or Preservatives:

Home or small-scale cold milling allows you to avoid artificial preservatives, additives, or bleaching agents (like potassium bromate) commonly found in commercial flour.

Superior Freshness & Flavor:

Freshly milled flour has a better, nuttier flavor.

Improved Mineral Absorption:

The cold-milling process, especially when combined with, for example, sourdough fermentation, helps reduce phytic acid, making minerals more available for the body to absorb.

Why Cold Milling Matters

Conventional roller mills often heat grains and remove the bran and germ for long-term shelf stability.
Cold milling retains these essential parts of the grain, ensuring you are consuming “live” food rather than “dead” flour.
It provides higher amounts of fiber (up to 4x), iron (almost double), and protein compared to store-bought refined flour.
